Summer denim

C and I got a pair of boyfriend... jeans that is. Hehe. We each splurged on a pair from Zara and are seriously excited with its outfit possibilities - with loose shirts or button downs or blazers or heels, etc. It's really about time boyfriend jeans arrived in stores - or perhaps I just missed it before. I've been wanting a pair since ... after searching blog archive... it's since this post. And yes my excitement is evidenced at the photo below - taken after we got back from the mall. Photos above are pre-mall.

The post with the dog

We took these 2 Sundays ago. Our lab Kiwi managed to sneak into some of the photos. She’s now 1 ½ year old - very hyper and easily excitable. When she gets too unruly, I try to be calm and assertive and do the Caesar Milan finger jab. Unfortunately it doesn’t have any effect; in fact I don’t think she feels the jab at all. A proud pack leader I am not.

But honestly, we’re all in love with Kiwi. She’s so playful and affectionate. Patting Kiwi is the most effective way to unwind after a long day of work – highly appreciated on crap days like most Mondays. So though Kiwi still has episodes of chewing slippers, destroying things, and uprooting plants (Caesar would not approve), we can’t stay mad for too long.

Brighten up

First post of the year and it's almost end of January. Wore this to the baptisim party of our cute-as-a-button 3-month old niece. I love the colors of C's outfit here - all bold and bright. And the green belt ties it all together, don't you think? My outfit on the other hand is more mellow yellow - a mix of brights and neutrals. I think a belt would've helped too.

Ok, so it's no secret I'm crazy excited over the Hunger Games movie. And just now I read an article on Kristen Bell who had a Hunger Games themed birthday party 2 years ago. Whut??  She dressed up as Katniss and her friends came in costume. And the best part is she had a blown-up bouncy castle on the lawn and labeled it the Capitol. hah! I love KB! Best tidbit from the internet ever.

Last of 2011

These were taken on Christmas. We had lunch at Fort with the father side family and us cousins spent the whole afternoon playing pusoy dos and bridge on the patio. I liked being outdoors for a change. The breezy weather made me feel all Christmas-y.

And here's a video I just saw. Zooey Dechanel and Joseph Gordon Levitt reunited! And singing! I didn't know JGL can sing. He sounded really nice. Match made in heaven :)

Hope everyone had a merry Christmas. Here's to a promising new year!

Sat and Sun

Took Tubs for a walk in Eastwood (her second time). She received lots of oohing and ahhing. A complete turnaround from her first time where we got zero compliments. The difference? Pet store grooming. Tubs strutted with confidence too – tail up in the air, relaxed kembot/walk. My sister said Tubs probably knew she looked good and fluffy. I think so too.

So what’s the outfit to walk the dog? Something bright, tucked, and frilly, of course. Haha, yeah, I wear the usual stuff on work days so it’s always fun to dress up on weekends. And I haven’t worn anything this bright since forever. I love love this top.

After the colourful Saturday outfit, I reverted back to something muted, layered, and casual. And here’s C’s outfit. She wasn’t too keen on having her pic taken, but I argued, for documentation purposes :)

So Sunday was a girls day. Always fun. We spent hours in Payless in dilemma. We ended up buying 2 pairs of shoes each. My sister, cuz, and I even got the same pair of felt peep-toe pumps. Theirs in cream-beige, mine in black. Super comfy and not expensive. It’s a bit high though, 3 inches? 4? But did I mention it’s super comfy and not expensive? I can’t stress that enough. Now, where to wear it...

Ye Olde Street

We joined a tour to Pagudpod last week. It took us 12 long hours to get there. It sometims felt endless but I shouldn’t complain. Our cushy bus had reclining seats, lots of leg room, and a huge TV that entertained us with Sound of Music and Gone With the Wind. We travelled in style.

One of our numerous pit stops was Vigan. The famous Calle Crisologo was really pretty. Spanish-era houses with wooden frames and worn down stucco lined the cobble-stoned street. It’s a festive market place too, albeit sometimes pushing the boundaries of the old-world setting. At one point, I could hear Fergie’s 'Big Girls Don’t Cry' blaring from the speakers of a corner store. We quickly walked along before some rap song plays. Or worse, an 80s power ballad.

Sunny shiny windy day

We went to the Bagui windmills – a very impressive sight. Sleek and modern as they are, they don’t look out of place at all against the natural backdrop. It was a perfect marriage of nature and technology on both form and function. Sadly we only had 15 minutes there. The sun was stinging and the sand was like hot coals under our feet. Our tour group quickly went back to the air conditioned coasters after the group photo-op. Alas, we had longer bathroom breaks than this. We didn’t even have time to get decent photos. Ah well, at least it prevented us from being complete burnt toasts.

Sunday clothes

knit cardigan – F21 ; tank - ? ; skirt – Greenhills tiangge ;
lace-up sandals – Charles & Keith ; necklace – Mango (mom’s)

cropped blazer – H&M (gifted by J) ; tank – F21 ;
skirt & sandals – from AU ; belt – SM dept store

We snapped these pics with my phone in the 5 minutes that we’re warming up the car. It was highly efficient of us. Pat on the back.

And look who I got in this post! I love C’s outfit - fun and yet balanced nicely by the cropped blazer.

As for me, the outfit felt a bit too girly for my age (almost 26. Eeep.) I mean when do you stop wearing pink frilly skirts? Or is it still ok? Or perhaps it should be paired with something more structured or serious looking. I don’t know what to wear lately. In need of a more polished look.

Holiday Hangover

I think this holiday hangover ranks as one of the worst. I know I should start off the new year in a sunny disposition and with a go get em attitude, but I literally had to pry myself off the bed for the first day of work.

In other news, my sister went back to Germany a few days ago. The house suddenly seemed so quiet when we got back from the airport. I suppose it’s back to regular programming. Til next year. We miss you so much already!

Anyway on to the pictures. On this day, we planned to go to Ortigas, but somewhere in Cubao, our car had a flat tire. Like super flat. We 3 had zero experience in changing tires, not to mention our outfits - except for J - are not suitable for the task. So who came to the rescue? Our brand new bro-in-law. He was handy. He changed the tire before our parents even arrived at the scene. Hooray for our “ahia” :)

An olive green Christmas

Finally we have a picture with all of us together! Our outfits looked like it's part of a collection, haha. Totally unintentional. We just gravitated towards neutrals and olive greens for some weird reason.

We had a lot of fun on Christmas as always. One of our aunts continues to give us childhood toys in our annual gift giving. The past years we had play-doh, dolls, cars, action figures, toy guns, etc. This year we had sipa for the boys and mi pao for the girls! It immediately invoked memories of countless hours playing mi pao at the elementary shool yard along with jack stone and chinese garter. Such a fun gift. Even though the "kids" are technically grown up, childhood toys never fail to amuse.
